A Few Guidelines for the Remembering Promised Land Discussion List

RememberingPL is a list dedicated to the fans and their discussions of the tragically cancelled CBS TV series, Promised Land. This list is for your enjoyment, sharing the warmth and inspiration of this fine series, and to make sure that's what happens, there are a few guidelines. Please take a moment to look them over.

Always remember to be polite, patient and tolerant of fellow list members.
There will always be differences of opinion. Repectful and friendly disagreement is OK, but arguments are not. Arguments about religious beliefs will be squelched promptly! Just treat your fellow list members as you would your close personal friends. After all, aren't they? :-)
No flaming! Posts that demean, insult or are deliberately rude are one-strike-you're-out offenses. Complaints about the behavior of other list members can be sent directly to me. Do NOT post them to the list!
Keep the language clean.
This is a place to discuss Promised Land. We're friends here and friendly discussions can wander off the topic a bit. If things don't digress too far and nobody complains, there shouldn't be a problem. If there is, I may have to gently rein in a bit, but I'll try not to.
No spamming! The list is not a billboard. No spamming, mass mailings or sales pitches. Mentioning items pertaining to PL is OK.
One problem that always turns up from time to time is chain letters. Like most lists, this one does not allow them. Please, no chain letters, no matter how well-intended.
When you are replying to a post, trim down the quoted text from the previous one to four or five lines, at most. This cuts net clutter and the cost of mailbox space for everyone.
If you get advance knowledge of an episode and want to post about it, please include the word "SPOILER" in the SUBJECT line. This also applies to you east-coasters who may want to talk about the ep you've just seen when it's still a few hours away over here in the west.
If your account starts bouncing mail, you'll be unsubbed. When the problem is solved you can always re-sub yourself, or write to me.
Please do not post messages with attached files. These can cause technical problems, and they tend to be bulky. If you have a video or audio clip, word-processor file or something else that should go as an attachment, contact me and I'll find a way to let the list find access to it.
Dealing with infractions or unspecified abuses of the list is at my sole discretion. So be good. :-)

In certain very rare cases, I may find it necessary to put the list in moderated mode temporarily and decline certain posts. That does not mean I am in any way trying to stifle anyone's expression. It will only be done is there is a very special problem, as a safety measure, and will last for the shortest time possible. If a post is declined, that doesn't necessarily mean it's in any way wrong or inappropriate; it more that likely means simply that I'm trying to quell some kind of problem most likely caused by someone else. It is very unlikely that I'll need to do this at all in the foreseeable future.
